INTEREST-ing participation at the Green Living Areas event in Turin

The kickoff event of the Green Living Areas community which has been shaped in the frame of Interreg EuroMED programme, took place in Turin on 10th and 11th of April 2024. GREENMO project was among the nineteen (19) thematic projects that gathered in Italy to meet for the first time and find synergies between their actions to amplify results and impact in the green transition in the Mediterranean region.

The first day of the agenda was entirely dedicated to Community Building, with a co-creation workshop, and networking activities, while the second day was open to the public, allowing the active exchange of experiences, practices, tools, strategies and policy instruments for promoting greener territories and engaging citizens in the transition.

Representatives of the Laboratory of Sustainable Systems and Resilient Infrastructures (INTEREST) of the University of West Attica were invited at the event as the Lead Partner of GREENMO project. They presented the concept of green mobility hubs and they actively participated in all interactive sessions in order to promote the project and exchange experiences with other participants. As a result, high-value networking connections were achieved during the event towards the common goal of a greener Med area on the sector of mobility and beyond.

Particularly interesting from the session “Policies for Green Living Areas” was hearing about the Institutional Dialogue Process, an approach that is also useful for the GREENMO project. Strengthening policy transfer by promoting dialogue between key policy-makers and public stakeholders in the MED region and helping to strengthen the implementation of policy solutions. Since mobility hubs are at the core of our project and they combine passenger and last-mile freight transport, collaborative threads can be developed both with projects working on sustainable mobility solutions and with projects focusing on urban logistics management. Thus, the network of Green Living Areas community will be exploited for synergies.
